We can't just think of history as something that happened to other people long ago. History is our own as well, no matter that we are not well known, famous or infamous, because we are important as well. The famous were only made so by people recognising them, extolling their virtues and ignoring their shortcomings.

People are history. People make history, everything else is archaeology.

I have just had a fascinating look at the English Heritage Outreach projects link. Their website page has moved to Historic England, with the link being given within the page. This month they are concentrating on Women's History. Areas featured are women's history through buildings which is a partnership between English Heritage, the Women's Library, and the TUC library collection. There is also coverage of the Struggle for Suffrage, and various aspects of women and healthcare including hospitals for women, and medical schools for women doctors. I am going to find out more about The Women's Library and the TUC library and will post further details here.
